Servocell Test Marketing New Lock Application with Assa Abloy Company

Prototype using Servocell Active Latch Technology begins test marketing

Servocell is pleased to announce that test marketing will commence for a new lock application incorporating their Active Latch AL2 module. This has been developed for Lips Nederland BV, a Dutch subsidiary of Assa Abloy, the world's leading lock group and follows the successful delivery of a Proof of Principle Prototype.

Servocell provided a design that combined the AL2 with a compact mechanism that could be fitted to existing parts in a special application lock. The project included 3 fully functioning sub-assembly prototypes that were made using pilot production units of the AL2.

On completion of successful test marketing, a product launch is expected in mid 2007.

Erwin Berkouwer, Lips' spokesman, commented:

"We are investing heavily in novel ways to create wireless locking mechanisms and intelligent ways to communicate with them. The low power consumption of Servocell's products is crucial to this work.

"This is the second development on which we have worked with Active Latch technology, and we are very confident that the AL2 product will contribute to meeting this market's needs in a cost-effective way."
