ITV Major Rebrand
ITV are set to introduce their major re-brand across its entire business early next year, including a new logo and refreshed identities for all its channels, including ITV1 changing to just ’ITV’. The new logo which has been designed in-house drops the rather formal previous style which has been established for the last six years for a curvier typeface and layout that is meant to look like "a form of human handwriting". The logo has four colors that are the "perfect points" on the color spectrum. But this new logo is intended to be a chameleon and will sometimes change according to the show or channel using something that ITV is calling "color picking". All ITV channels will go live with new branding simultaneously in 2013 so I might actually turn the TV on for a change to see it in action! So what do you guys think to the new identity? I’m sure it’s going to get a lot of stick but I for one really like the new approach. |

How not to ruin great designThis morning I was tagged in a video on Facebook called "How not to ruin great design" where Mag+ fire their client Frank Woods for being an ignorant dick and as a result create an app to help clients work with designers. Now I can''t work out whether this is fictitious or not, but either way it's a bit of fun. As I began hunting around for some validation on this video I found this sweet guide to design for start ups, although the information in the guide should be absorbed by all... Start Ups, this is how Design works. |

Web by colorCOLOURlover of colourlovers.com has put together an interesting report on the colors used in the top 100 brands around the world with some very interesting results, take a guess as to the dominant branding color, you may be surprised? According to Mark Zuckerberg; creator of Facebook, choose blue as the social networks brand color as he is color blind and its the only color he can see clearly. Others have admitted to simply using a primary color for their brand when starting up and had no real focus on design or the repercussions. View the full article. |

iTunes 2.0
At the beginning of the month Apple announced the new version of iTunes... iTunes 10. With various minor feature updates the only major changes are the introduction of ?Ping?, Apples attempt at creating a social network and a re-designed version of the iTunes icon. The new icon seems to have drawn some controversy towards itself, on the one hand it makes sense to remove the compact disc as sales of CD?s have dwindled considerably, on the other, its just not very ?good looking?. Whether we like it or not the icon will stay and we will all get used to it eventually... maybe? It seems plenty of people however don?t agree and have set out to create their own versions of the iTunes 10 icon. Not only are they all far more beautiful than the original but they are all available to download for free. macstories.net have compiled the ten best icons on the web! |
