IAW is a great website by jarrett green who like most of us tend to get sidetracked from our work to look up something and end up on a magical information journey from the most utterly useless through to the fascinating yet still useless.

He has taken it upon himself to share his findings and has executed it perfectly with some really nice graphics and humorous narration.

I immediately found something Jarrett had taken the time to find out that I had always wondered: Why didn?t all GI?s get a Thompson during WWII?

I have really started to ?fall in like? with Adobe After Effects, especially because I can easily animate my style effectively with info style illustration and typography. After completing A Brilliant Retrospective I started looking around to see what others are producing and found this gem of an animation... inspiration over load!

The animation focus is on a single woman living in rural Kenya. Now whether this woman exists or not is irrelevant to the story which highlights the struggles of making a living and how a half-acre tree farm can change a woman?s life. Not only informative but a little emotional too.

Skype have relocated their headquarters to Palo Alto, California and enlisted Blitz to fully renovate a 54,000 square feet space to support more than 250 employees.

The work areas are allocated to the perimeter of the space to benefit from natural light and lower noise levels. Collaboration zones (meeting rooms, coffee kiosks, white board areas) are centered along main access spines on each level encouraging staff to literally ?meet in the middle?. Contemplation spaces are interspersed in the form of overlapping casual lounges and a variety of environments have been created that facilitate different interactions.

Liquid - Sweet Harmony

This video sparked off something amazing for me back in 1992 (wow, that really is a long time ago) as well as the memory of being berated by my parents for calling up The Box video channel to view it more than ten times. Watching this for the first time led me to the decision that I wanted a career that involved being creative.

I didn?t know how anyone could produce something so inspiring or what the job title would be of this awesome creator, but I wanted in. Knowing what you want to become at the age of eleven even in today?s society seems pretty crazy but I was awe struck, and not just by the messages, the pretty girl, location or the tune itself, it was the combination of audio, video and typography working together to form something bigger.

Watching it 19 years on it looks rather cheesy and shabby in places but it still gives me the overwhelming feeling of unlimited possibilities and the passion to explore them.
