I?ve written about Information Graphics before on this blog, some of you will know it?s a passion of mine. The BBC News website has published a great article celebrating the crucial role diagrams have in helping us to understand the world around us - read it now. Florence Nightingale is one of my favourite Information Designers. Better known for her nursing than her graphics, for me she represents a special anomaly: the anonymity which arises from communicating ideas so well that few people notice the means by which they are communicated. |

Why websites suck!
I have been forwarded an interesting interview with Gerry McGovern hosted on the American Express Open Forum entitled ?Why websites suck? Gerry is regarded as the worldwide authority on increasing web satisfaction by managing customer tasks since 1994. He talks about a websites ?top task? and customer satisfaction with web design being created around the consumer. He brings to light some good tips to remember when confronted with a website GUI job, some reflections that I thought were obvious and a view on the graphical appearance of a website that I completely disagree with. Arrrgh... the Madness
After spending way to many hours of my life than I wish to mention in my mission of completing Angry Birds (well, so far), I went looking for a new iPhone game and have found an absolute gem... Catapult Madness Like angry birds its relatively simple in its premise where your only goal is to catapult one of your peasants from your castle which is being attacked to a neighboring castle for help, even still it had me sitting there for well over two hours just to complete the single level game. Yes... it is only a single level game at this point but that hasnt stopped me from returning to it to try and smash my original score! At the moment the game is FREE and I?m pretty sure it is going to be big very soon so go and grab it from the app store. |

Coca-Cola Art
I have found a great resource that showcases a lot of Coca-Cola advertising that not only includes commissioned work by a variety of artists and designers but also a selection of independent designers works. You can find a selection of can and bottle designs, limited editions, POS, billboards, wall paintings, posters and flyers, copywriting, radio, cinema and television commercials, web design and magazines ads. Check it out |

Web by colorCOLOURlover of colourlovers.com has put together an interesting report on the colors used in the top 100 brands around the world with some very interesting results, take a guess as to the dominant branding color, you may be surprised? According to Mark Zuckerberg; creator of Facebook, choose blue as the social networks brand color as he is color blind and its the only color he can see clearly. Others have admitted to simply using a primary color for their brand when starting up and had no real focus on design or the repercussions. View the full article. |
